Celeron® M

Old Celeron M Logo New Celeron M Logo

As is seen with Netburst based Celeron's, the Celeron M corresponds to the equivalent Pentium M core with half the L2 cache disabled. In addition to this Speedstep was disabled and the Celeron M was not a part of the Centrino Mobile Technology platform. The lack of Speedstep also meant that Celeron M's TDP was higher than the equivilant Pentium M's low-end as they could not conserve power to the same degree.

All the Pentium M cores have Celeron M variants, Banias (512KiB L2), Dothan (1MiB L2) and Yonah (Core Solo based, single core and 1MiB L2 cache).
Banias and Dothan were both available in Ultra Low Voltage form, and Dothan received a ULV with 512KiB L2 cache that was popular in initial version of the Ultra Mobile PC launched at CeBIT 2006.

The Dothan did not gain the 533MHz (4 x 133) front side bus added to the Pentium M with the Sonoma platform refresh, XD bit was added and the Yonah part received the front side bus speed increase.

Finally there was a fourth Mobile architecture based Celeron core known as Shelton, based off of the Banias.
Shelton was designed for the Asian and South American markets and ran at 1GHz. In a move harking back to the original Covington core Celeron the Shelton had no L2 cache at all, and is therefore sometimes referred to as Banias-0.
