Website fixes

October 29th, 2007 by thorburn

Just made a few small changes to the site to keep things ticking over.

I’d been getting a lot of spam comments (pointless as every comment waits for my moderation anyway) which was getting a little annoying and so have enabled Akismet to hopefully cut back on these.

At the same time I also updated Wordpress up to the latest version as the previous one was a good few months old now. The Wordpress team have done a great job of making the upgrade process as simple as possible. Just copy in the new files and run a single php file and you’re good to go, very impressive.

Finally I fixed my own stupid HTML in the previous post to stop the sidebar disappearing down to the bottom of the page.

Back to job hunting tomorrow. Having a play with C# too so might upload a small application for overclockers at some point.

Funny how situations change in a couple months. Having called Colin a waster for taking so long to get a job I find myself unemployed, having quit my job after mounting frustration.

My resignation came while away for my Grandads funeral and may have been a little rash, but it was something I had been considering for some time and would have done eventually anyway. Hopefully I’ll find some more satisfying work soon.

As for my Grandad, I went up to see him the weekend before he died and was glad I did. Being from a small family I’m lucky that having to say goodbye isn’t too common an occurance, but when the time comes every mile of travel is worth it to let them know you care.
